    Hi mate,
If you got rel="nofollow" backlink , is it worth? Can we count it as no backlink?
    Pls share your view.
    Thanks.

At least google considers it as not important. So, what google deems is important since most of the web traffic is through it.

Any link with the nofollow attribute in it has no value to you for Google SEO.
Any of your internal outbound links should have the nofollow attribut in it to protect you page rand bleed of.

Currently, nofollow only counts for Google Page Rank issues

Dont waste time in nofollow links. Search for a member called silveraden his signature points to a huge list of do-follow blogs.

    Happy backlinking.

Well I have seen links with nofollow attribute gets crawled by Google as I have seen links with nofollow attributes appearing in the result when checked for backlinks. I think it does follow the link but most probably doesnot pass any link value.

Exactly. However, if you find some good "nofollow" links that you can get, you might want to use them, since some of the search engines recognize the links. The majority of people use Google, but if you're selling something that can be sold worldwide and Internet Marketing is a "numbers game"...you might see some great SERPS from some of the other search engines.

I know how to get a great backlink from YouTube. Not recognized by Google, though. :(

    Matt Cutt's precise words are:

The nofollow attribute is just a mechanism that gives webmasters the ability to modify PageRank flow at link-level granularity. Plenty of other mechanisms would also work (e.g. a link through a page that is robot.txt'ed out), but nofollow on individual links is simpler for some folks to use. There's no stigma to using nofollow, even on your own internal links; for Google, nofollow'ed links are dropped out of our link graph; we don't even use such links for discovery. By the way, the nofollow meta tag does that same thing, but at a page level.)

    We benchmarked this

For 9 months, we had sub directory with a default.asp and 11 child pages. The home page of the site had a link to the subdirectory's default.asp page. The default.asp linked to the 11 child pages. All 11 child pages were indexed repeately for ~ 6 months. Default.asp recieved a PR1.

Two months ago, we applied a nofollow to the link on the home page.

After July's PR update, the subdirectory's default.asp page and 11 child pages were not indexed and Gray Barred. No other change were made.

And yes, we will put it back 9/1/08 to see if it comes back.

We believe that PR will not be transfered.
We believe that Google will not follow the link for indexing only reasons.

A "no-follow" link can't be count as backlinks; but that "no-follow" link can possibly drive traffics to your website.

Nofollow attribute does not allow search engines to crawl the link, so it wont be indexed and be counted as backlink. I am not really 100% sure though.

If the website having nofollow means, bots couldn't able to enter the website external links. Through this no follow links we couldn't able to get any benefit from google but people can visit our site through the links so that we can get traffic. Don't count the no follow link in your back link list.
