Ive just set up a shoutcast station and it is very easy and straightforward if you get hosting with a control panel. You can also get auto dj and just upload music and playlists so it carries on 24 hours day and you dont have to have a computer at home streaming constantly. You basically pay for the amount of users you have usually and this varies from provider to provider. I just set up with http://cheaperstream.com/ and they see pretty good. The customer service so far has been excellent and looking at the system they can cope with as many users as you like without falling over.

In terms of playing other peoples music. You cant just download songs and stream them unless you have copyright ownership. Basically your potentially making money of someone elses work so they need to be paid for that. Depending on what country you are in you will need appropriate liscense. In the usa for example you would need to contact ASCAP and BMI for the correct web license.

    Good luck !
