Hi, I was surprised when my website got a PR2 from the recent update. To tell you the truth I didn't touch it at all but just hosted the website with Google. Zero backlinks, zero promotion and I can say only I am the sole visitor with Alexa 12 Million as it was for my own personal use. So how on earth did the PR2 come from? Would really like some answers. The only reason I could think of is that Google hosted my website and was super fast index in Google. I an really curious and will rep people who give reasonable answers. Thanks very much p/s- it's not even a .com - its a .info
Hi, .com or .info is not an issue. Google PR depends on lots of factors and unique content is also one of the major factor. I think your site has unique content. Thats, why you got PR 2.
A more reasonable guess if there is nothing on the domain is that as a new site google gave you a gift. If there continues to be no work on the domain then the next update will show a n/a or more likely 0. Hoodala
My own experience says it is more likely an ephemeral rank that you will see adjusted back to 0 if you do nothing to keep it, son hands on work
Nice answers everyone and I would say the PR is currently very stable. Yup.. perhaps a gift lol.. Not many websites host with Google. Thanks and all given rep. Cheers
Sorry, can not say why but there is a very good reson for that. I'm sure you find it if you think hard...
The major factor affecting PageRank is the inbound link, and if you don't have any links at the moment, chances are really high that you will drop back to 0 in the next update.
Congrats on the PR, I would like you to know that my frnd is using a free domain of .co.cc and has a pr3...
How did you determine you have no backlinks? I recommend you use marketleap.com to determine. If it shows no backlinks, it's the content on your site.
I don't think it is because of the content nor that it is a gift. Maybe you've got a single good PR link from somewhere - you may achieve pr2 and even more just from one good backlink.
There are a lot of possible reason. The real question is if it will last or not. I would take advantage of the PR and build a site with good keywords indexed by the SE's.
