You will need patience and more patience. Have a complete CV Resume uploaded and wait.

The bottom line is you want to get paid?
    Don't stake everything on odesk.com
Try to sell/market you service all around the web.
    It worked for me.
    Best of luck.

I've had quite a few jobs from oDesk with okay pay in return. Getting my first job wasn't actually as difficult as I thought it would be. I merely used their upload facility to upload non odesk related work to show my skills.

Because to be honest, anyone can throw up skills on their profile but evidence is key, images etc. So build up your profile with past work, upload an image of yourself and bid a little lower for your first job. Good luck, after your first job hopefully having acquired good feedback, you can raise your bid.

It's a common problem faced by all the new freelancers, At first you should try to bid projects at low price and once you get some projects history in profile with good rating for work, there are some chance to get more regular work.

First of all complete you profile, with portfolio. First bid low $1 to $2 once you get feed back and odesk hour then getting more projects.

First you need to update your full profile in oDesk, it is helpful to hire you.

Under whatever circumstances, for your first contract never ever begin work if it is not a paid-per-hour work. With fixed based contracts, always seek an upfront payment as odesk only guarantees payment for hourly based work.

It starts with opening a account and then applying to them.If you have any specification it would have been easier to get a job..
