About landing pages

I have a website with product comparisons and I want to advertise my site using ppc ads.

    How should I advertise:

Should I have a landing page with just one of the products, or should I add various products.

I think I should advertise various products, but I don't know how effective it can be, because the majority of the landing pages I've seen show only one product.

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

I think it would depend on many factors. Though, the main theme of the landing page SHOULD focus on the product being advertised.

One thing you NEED to look into is the ToS of the network you are planning on using. If I am not mistaken, at least some of them require one product, but, as I said, I could be mistaken.

Regardless though, if you are to put more then one, the others should be related to the main product, as that is why people are clicking into that page anyway. And the main push of the landing page should be for that main product as well. And do not over do it, if it looks to pushy people will click the back button. Keep your end user/buyer in mind over your own wallet, and your sales will do MUCH better.

Thank you so much, Qryztufre. This information is very useful.

When you say network, do you mean the affiliate network, or the ad network like Google Adwords?

One important question is, "What do you want the landing page to do?" If its to get them to make product comparisons and actually buy, then a catalog approach might work well.

But usually, a landing page is more about gettin the reader interested enough to provide their contact info for you. THe strategy that I like best for this is to take the first few pages of your content and format it like an article that extends below the bottom of the screen. Once the reader has scrolled down and been hooked by your content, you require registration to access the rest of the content.

    Good luck!

Landing pages always depend on the product promoted.

    1. If the search is for "seagate hard drive", you have a lot to gain by pointing them to the main page where the product is featured. The customer already has his mind made up on which product and is interested to learn more or simply purchase it. He probably is price shopping. So a landing page would be the page on your website that is most accurate to the search.

    2. If the search is for "hard drives" the searcher is probably looking to compare. A landing page which explains why your Seagate hard drives are better than other hard drives is probably the best of options. That page should then lead the surfer to your main Seagate Hard Drive page.

    Yes ;)

It's important to follow the ToS of ANY network, regardless of whether it's an affiliate network or adnetwork.

I think I heard that you should focus on one specific product for your landing page. Though, I know a few people who have used a few different products on one landing page and it works, so I guess it all depends.

But I would just stick with one product...
