I have a karate site, name www.karateempire.com . Pages in Google: 1,460. But i have no traffic from the keyword "karate". How to get traffic from this keyword.
To get traffic (aka visitors) you need to rank for specific keywords. Chances are you'll have some difficulty ranking for the keyword 'karate' since there are thousands of other karate sites already. Use a keyword tool (such as google extended keyword tool) and figure out what people are searching for and what has the least amount of competition. Develop content around these keywords (or long-tailed keywords) then develop in-bound links with anchor text for these keywords. Pretty soon you'll see traffic coming in for these keywords. It's hard to compete against sites that are already established, have thousands of quality backlinks, etc. but keep your head up.
Hm... That word has 246,000 searches a month, you need LOTS of money, in order to rank with that word! Its better to be rank 1 on word with 10k searches, then being on 10th page with word that has 246k searches
Have you checked the competition of your desired keyword? It is going to be very difficult to rank for this keyword. My suggestion to you will be focusing more on some keyword phrases rather than only a one word keyword. Select some keyword phrases that will match the theme of your site.
Since everyone recommended SEO, I'll give you another way to drive traffic. Put up a YouTube account and build credibility as an online karate instructional series maker. That's a good concept that I see many similar technical niches utilize.
keyword is too competitive, try looking for other related keywords with less competition. Your best option is long tail keywords
try to make a phrase of the keyword karate and then make that into your major keyword...do some experiment and then see how it goes from there.
Well, Competition is very important thing, when you are selecting a key word..I just checked your key word competition, I must say, it is very difficult to rank for this key word... Second thing, you need to spend your more time as well as money.. So, I'd be suggest you to go with long tail key word..
I have seen your website and in this useful content, link and other designs. In short your website is good.....
To traffic (aka visitors) to your rank for specific keywords. Chances are your only trouble ranking for 'karate' tagged because there have been thousands of other sites already karate. Use a keyword tool (such as extensive google keyword tool) and find out what people are looking for and what is the least of the competition. Develop content around these keywords (or long tail keywords), then develop in-bound links with anchor text for those keywords. Pretty soon you'll see the traffic coming in on these keywords. It's hard to compete with sites that have already been established, thousands of quality backlinks, etc. but keep your head up.

The advice above is all good. I hate to sound like a parrot, but you will not rank with the keyword "karate". Period. Keyword research is key(no pun intended) to getting free search traffic. It should be done before building a site and I would recommend you get a professional keyword tool to do so, there are several out there. If you ignore the competition for keywords, you are likely to have a site with either no visitors, or untargeted visitors that just click off your site. Optimize your site for 3 or 4 keyword phrases after doing your homework. Think of all the options: Karate for self confidence Karate to relieve stress Being bullied at school? School bullies I want to kick someone's butt Hands of steel I usually spend several hours researching just one possible market before ever building a site, and if I can't compete for any of the relevant keywords I want to use I move on to another possible idea and start my research all over again. I have built too many sites with no traffic to waste that kind of time again. Good luck!
You can rank for the keyword karate, but why would you? If you are teaching Karate then there is no reason to have first place position for your keyword in say seattle, if your karate studio is in NY. Narrow your keyword down with karate in it, plus the location, to make it a long tail keyword, like Karate New York, and you should be able to rank for that keyword fairly fast.
There are many keyword suggestion tools that really guide you to get best long tail keywords to increase the site traffic.
