    It increases your link popularity by
    connecting your website to any or
    all members under the same category
    that you can do it manually.

    Simply automated, once your site is
    activated, your site can be featured
    to all other members with a click of
    a button.

    Well, it not a waste to try it..

    Anyway, it's free!

    Will it hurt by being considered link farming?

    You can test my version here

    http://www.crilance.com/gotlinks

    YOu can templatize the directory, control pagination, etc.
    If you carefully allow sites to link you by deny or aprove them, you can have a good usage.

    Crirus -

    I tested this stuff out and did a write up on SEOchat about it...it is a good way to get indexed and an even better way to get deindexed...it's a link farm.

    Well, if you set to deny by default and only release 10 links per week, you cant spamm SE.
    Also, before approving any, just peek to link hosting site so you make sure it is a good site and also theme related.
    If anyone is stoopid enough to allow 2000 links over night, he may deserve to get sandboxed.

    Its funny you hijacked the original spammers affiliate post with your own :cool:

    This is garbage. If you use this, be prepared to be posting "Where did my site go?"

    so what's to prevent a competitor from getting your site de-listed by submitting it to a link farm?

    You have to add code to your existing pages so unless your competitor has access to your code they couldn't register you.

    I works like hell in MSN. If you're working with trash out domains go for it. But don't put it on ANY site you have plans for. ;)
    I made some tests on one site then took it down.

    FYI - Their bot checks for the following:

    <span class="CategoryTable">
    <a href="http://www.gotlinks.com" target="_blank">[anything you want]</a>
    </span>

    That's if you plan on making any modifications :)

    Have heard nothing but bad about this site.

    I gotlinked a few sites in the past and noticed my sites get penalized for it. I lost PR4 from one of them it went to PR1. took it off and next time it went back to PR4. So from experience i stay away from link farms now. They sound a really good idea but in reality i feel they hurt, my email spam has dropped considerablly aswell since not using them.

    I'll get hundreds of link exchange requests from guys who are running their own "directory" of various different topics. I've seen pages jump from PR 0 to PR 5 in around 5 months doing that. It's pretty much the same thing only I don't think it works as well. I've seen some improvement in MSN and my site gets crawled a lot more in all the search engines but besides that the benefit has been minimal after almost 3 months.

    Basically if your site is already doing terrible I would use it but don't mess up a good thing.

    Do I consider it a link farm? no. No more than any other "link exchange directory" that isn't specifically focused on the same niche category as the rest of the site.

    I just went back to my gotlinks.com account just recently. They have totally changed around everything. Now they have a free account and a pay account for $99 a year.

    Don't pay it. Its not worth it. $99 Per website is terrible for links that will only help you in MSN. The pay service would be worth something if the links were one way and I could use it sitewide for all my pages.
