    Question. Is my ID number OK to appear in my code as:

    google_ad_client = "cpub-NUMBER HERE";

    i.e., is the cpub part considered normal? Or should it just be: pub ?

    where do you see cpub?i know there is ca-pub.
    it's just pub-xxxxxxxxxxxxx,just like you see it when you log in your account (top - right corner).

    anything that is before pub is used internally.
    it may still read the account numbers with it.if it doesn't,you would just get PSA's.
