I think the question was if it's applicable to a new page added to an old site or to a new site (regardless of the age)
Perfect answer. Sandbox Effect has disappeared in 2009 after some empowerment of Google search infrastructure. You may get other penalties, though (there are many in Google). And new sites are more volatile for these penalties.
I don't think the 'sandbox effect' has totally 'disappeared' as people still experienced fluctuation in the rankings, hence they've just gave it a new name called 'Google Mayday'.
Sandbox and MayDay have completely different algorithmic roots and also different consequences for sites in SERPs. Example: Sanboxing originally was targeting only new sites (therefore the name of the filter). MayDay kicked almost all sites, independently of the age. True, might be as well safe to say that Mayday and Sandbox at one point where meant to give the same effect.
I haven't heard about this for a long time.. i believe google already handle this one since they improve their site crawling and indexing..
It is applicable only for domain and sub domain not for the internal pages. Assume that the website has five city pages followed by the domain.
"Sandbox Effect" applies to the idea that all new websites have their ratings placed in a holding tank until such time is deemed appropriate before a ranking can commence.
Usually applies only to new sites. I recently bought an 8 yr old domain which had 0 content for several years but it managed to rank for a competitive keyword after a month of putting new content on it. I use the term "usually" because I've also seen new sites on completely new domains obtain significant traffic after 3-4 months.
Hi, I think Google sandbox would be there for new sites before building enough trusts. Generally speaking, building back links from niche relative authority sites would be helpful. all the best,
I feel one of my blog fall into the sand box for a week straight, only a small collection of articles
