Content is certainly important. But ... my website (sig link #2) has nothing but original, personally-written content of high quality. Yet it is still suffering about a 20% drop in traffic since the Google algorithm change.

My site did not drop, though it's relatively new.
My articles usually ends up on 900-1300 words of self written content so I doubt that I
will see any significant drop in traffic later on either.

Quality content wins vs spammed backlinks - those b@stards! what are they thinking of?

I wouldn't say that Google now cares for content over links. It's just that they think they've found a way to detect spammy content and reduce its rank. That's quite different! Content will always be king, but links are still queen, and ultimately it's usually the queen that has the power! :)
