Hello, I currently host one website on godaddy shared hosting. I am planning to start some websites and I thought to buy a VPS, instead of using shared hosting for each website. So, I have some questions and want your opinion, if you use VPS from godaddy. Can I host unlimited websites on one VPS account? Is it difficult to connect domains with hosting? (I have already bought the domains from godaddy) Should I purchase cpanel? Is it better than the simple control panel they offer? I used plesk in the past, didn't like it. I read over the net that the uptime is 100% and that their support is terrible. What is your opinion? Thank you
Hi, You can host many sites on one simple shared hosting service too. Just create a sub-folder and then buy a domain, link it to the sub folder, everything will be done do not waste precious money on VPS unless you really really need it. Shared hosting provides better resources when it comes to pooling, which VPS does not. You can even give cloud hosting a try, its something new and its already rocking!!!
You should only get a VPS if you know what you're doing. 1. Yes you can host unlimited domains. 2. It is difficult if you have never done it before. 3. You should definitely get cPanel... It will make your life easier, and it is good for a first-time VPS user. Don't go with GoDaddy. Their uptime sucks and they oversell like crazy. Their support is slow. You need to get a FULLY MANAGED VPS, in my opinion. Check out http://www.vps.net or simply Google "VPS Providers"
Thank you all for your help. I am thinking to try a managed vps with hostv. It's the first time, so I will need some help for sure. Hope they have good support.
Yeah, you can contact them and try their support firsthand, see how fast they will respond and how knowledgeable they are.
If I were you I would not consider continue using Godaddy VPS. Godaddy is a domain name company and their expertise is not web hosting. Their uptime and support both are well known as "unprofessional" compared to another established hosting company. Inmotion or Hostgator VPS may be your options.
I never had an experienced with Godaddy VPS but I doubt their reliability. I would recommend vps from inmotion or hostgator over godaddy for now.
Hostgator is great! They are fast to respond to my inquiries and solve any problem *cough I created. Unless you are getting more than 30,000 unique visitors a day (depending on how image, script or data base heavy your site is) shared hosting can take a fair bit of traffic.
