What happen if I register a new domain name which is very close to the name of a famous company? If I develop that domain, will I be sued? What will the big companies do if they know I got a domain very close to their brand name? Please advise, thank you very much:)

The technical term for what you are trying to do is called typo-squatting and the term for people who do it is called Cybersquatters. According to some sources, it is illegal and you can be sued by the company if they find out and wish to pursue such lawsuits. Microsoft has sued others for similar related cases. It all depends on whether or not the company you are trying to make money off of is going to press charges or not for trying to bank off the fact that others are going to accidentally land on your page. Other related lawsuits are trademark infridgement when the name of the company is also its trademark.

Thank you for your explanations. What if I just park those domains for advertising purposes, is it ok? Also the domain that I'm going to register is just very close to a brand name, but not exactly using the same name of the company, the question is : how can we know a domain name is violating a trademark? How far can I go?

I think once Microsoft sued a website by the name of mikerowesoft, lol.
I think in the end they just bought it from the guy, but yes, bigger companies can definably pursue legal action against you if to wish to do so.

you should think about the fact that big (huge) companies might go for suing, but also if your site does not worth a lot, at the end fo the day it will cost them much more for the suing, than just leave you intact.

you might be goind on a thin line here.

Yep, avoid buying an identical domain name to a famous brand name.

It is a very controversial topic.

It is one thing if you buy something like www.coca-kola.com, this would be bad for you, while buying www.kokka-kolla.com should be much safer.

Thank you for all of your advises.

In the DP domain forum, once a guy is selling a domain Hostgator.org, which is exactly the brand name of a web hosting company Hostgator.com. In this case, if I buy this Hostgator.org from the guy and park it for advertising purposes, is it a wise decision? Please tell me your opinion, thank you :)

well, most probably you will have problems with this name. It obviously is the same name, it's not even typo-squatting. :)

I would recommend to play on the safe side, even thou it is an attracting opportunity.

    regards
