Anyone have luck getting their site listed in about.com? Thats a directory with human editors, correct? I never get any replies back.
I've tried submitting/e-mailing the editor of a specific category without any luck/response as well. However, an editor in another category that I never contacted did show me some love.
No love here. And now, with the redesign of about, it's nothing more than another yahoo or msn portal. It no longer has the human editor input design or interface. All I see are ads and 'prepackaged crap' on the site. I think they really hurt themselves trying to become like everyone else instead of being who they were.
About.com is crap-I have a hard time believing many people use it considering it's huge amount of ads/popups.
I use it for certain things- they do have a nice amount of articles and other things of use. Get Adsubtract and the ads are gone.. I don't remember the last time I was bothered.
Someone uses, because I get lots of traffic from: http://websearch.about.com/cs/onlinetools/gr/digitalpoint.htm
How can they list those as CONS? "Only tracks Google rankings" The ability to track other results in the same way isn't available and "Must setup seperate logins to track seperate campaigns" isn't even true.
I did get listed, but it took a lot of effort. But, as memory serves, aren't they in that class that hides links in JavaScript?
This is just one of the reasons I enjoy this forum so much. It reconfirms my suspicions about not spending more effort/time with About.com. Thanks Shawn!
