I wanted to know the following because i have no expierences with checks being paid out to me. When i recieve a check from G how long do i have to cash it in? is there some sort of expiring period connected to the check payment?

Also when applying for the adsense account do you have to give out an bank account number for the check to be payed out to or can i cash the check to my own convinience with any bank that offers check cashing services?

    Thanks in advance guys.

Checks usually have an expiration date, in most cases between 60 and 90 days. You can cash checks wherever you want. G might give more than 90 days I dunno, since many of their clients are overseas.

It will largely depend on your bank. Some of the banks will only allow you to deposit the cheque into an account in your name (the same as on the cheque) and you'll have to wait a certain amount of time for you to withdraw that cash.
Other banks will allow you to cash the cheque immediately.

Normally a cheque is valid for 3 months after which it expires.

Thanks guys, just to make sure about something, when applying for an adsense account i do not have to specify a bank account number right? because the check will be issued in my name if i understand correctly?

Yes. That's correct. If you opt for the cheque payment method you don't have to specify a bank account. However if you go for EFT (if available) they will need bank details.

If your cheque expires would they send you another?

Most likely it would be possible for you to request a re-issue of the cheque. However I have no personal experience of this. I think most likely they will just send you another payment a month later with your added revenue, and just cancel the old cheque.

I still haven't cashed my first check yet, it's been about 50 days already.

If a check expires, it'll usually say so right around the $ amount. If not, I think the max time is 6 months here in Canada - no idea about other countries.

Yes, checks usually have expiration dates on them... at least business checks do. I've seen 180 days as a common expiration.
