I wasn't aware that they were selling so well... I suppose the xbox 360 might have something to do with it indirectly as they kindof branded the "360" revolutionary turn thing... doesn't make a whole lot of sense though.
I am also wondering about the same thing. I have seen LOTS of 360 domains. Why do people keep getting them? Why is the trend?
Because : - It's a decent suffix - Popular sites were based on this trend - It's easy to remember (one word+360) - Represents the 360 degrees and not xbox. The full spectrum view is translated to 'all aspects', 'everything' that can be attached to all niches. Some align perfectly with the word, some not so much but doing fine Started a long time ago with travel sites present their 360 panoramic images Later companies like biz360.com started to promote this niche Check : - Norton360.com - Yahoo360.com (not active but reserved from yahoo) - BIZ360.com - Cardio360.com .... 360 suffix names have only friends and enemies usually not many between You either like it or hate it In my sig link "Domains Marketplace 2007" you will find some of the 360 suffix names i liquidate. I have about 1200+ that needs promotion and literally no time to promote each one I had about 200+ 360 names before some 2 years now i sold many of them My last sale is fetish360.com for 300 Euro
Some more sales : exposure360.com $795 2007-05-08 afternic rentals360.com $510 2007-04-16 tdnam rl360.com $700 2007-03-07 sedo harley360.com $100 2007-01-13 sedo kauai360.com $360 2007-01-10 afternic versicherungen360.de $258 2006-12-30 sedo generics360.com $70 2006-12-30 sedo webcasts360.com $100 2006-12-24 sedo
I think there are many reasons the term is popular, let's list some: Xbox360 CNN360 Yahoo360 ESPN360 So, we're looking at major media & technology using the term. When Microsoft and ESPN use a term that's enough but there are many others, the one's above are just a few. I personally own online360.com, just in case... Cheers,
I know acronym007 The situation is pretty obvious and let's not forget norton360.com which is not only a domain but a whole brand new product line of Symantec However even all these do happen at the net there are people still thinking about it I had about 200 Sold nearly half of them at low and average prices, some like cad360.com received bids over $2500 The funny part is that when i liquidate some of them at Domain Megamarket 2007 there are still people thinking about it I believe for 360 suffix names there are people either like them or hate them, no middle ground
I have read at another domain forum that 360 domains are very popular because people buy them to make 360 angle website for that particular keyword, like the whole review of that product of thing.
Yes part of the usage is this too The 360 is something like all the aspects of X or everything about X BIZ360.com for example based their job to it
It's indeed a trend but a good one I never saw a simple trend be used from cnn, yahoo, espn, symantec
