Is that anywhere near normal? Is that a high impression compared to others? I really don't know. 18 cents a day is just not cutting it... edit: here are the sites: www.contrastandcompare.com www.contrastandcompare.com/forums www.blog.contrastandcompare.com
You sure can improve your ad placements to start with. Find it here http://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/static.py?page=tips.html
I didn't get your question. In general, you need to blend your ads such that they appear part of your site. The positioning of ads matter immensly. As of now ads on your site are too obvious to notice and must be suffering from ad-blindness. Read along in the adsense forums and you will get to know lots of new things. Good Luck and Welcome!
I hate to say it, but there's no real content there. You have one welcome page (which shouldn't even have Adsense on it, it's against the TOS), a message board that doesn't seem all that active, and the blog, which seems like the most active part of your site. Unfortunately blogs are notorious for not converting. So, why are you making so little? Get another site topic.
He seems to have a lot of visitors, but no content for them to stay. I'm betting most of those 2xxx are visit, stay a second, finds out there's nothing there, and then leaves. It's probably a little too early for him to start complaining about not making any money. He should definitely spend more time adding content.
ad content so visitors stay for a while and have the time to notice an ad. Also, a good ad placement kan raise your revenue by a mile. Sometimes, it is better to have a small ad blended in with the text, then an huge ad just at the top of the page. I bet many people are not even noticing the ad at the top (of the blog) because its above the content of the page. Your second ad is below the comments, people need to scroll to far in order to even see it. Try to use a 468x60 banner just below the content and above the comments. And blend the colors of that one, white background, black text, color of all your links. You can also try a scrycraper at the right, in the menu, or a small link block just above the content (maybe even between the title and text). Hope this has helped a bit, good luck
Uh, one other thing that probably doesn't effect your earnings much is that ALL YOUR TEXT IS CENTERED! Even blog posts. It's hard to read regular paragraphs of text when they're all centered like that....
My blogs convert just fine, but there are a few key "secrets" that I've noticed when tracking channels and specific conversion clues: 1. People need to dig deep before conversion rate goes up. The more content you have, the more they'll tend to convert. 2. Cross-linking new blog posts to older ones is very good for conversion. Don't overdo it. 3. Fresh information really makes a big difference when it comes to getting good quality ads. My lowest paying blogs are the ones that have the least updated information. My highest paying blogs have both fresh content as well as VERY consistent update schedules. Daily updates are not necessary (in fact, my daily blogs have the lowest CPC), but consistent updates are required. 4. Bad pages severely hurt a website. I removed ("pruned") a few pages and noticed my CPC go up. Adsense seems to rate the entire site (at least for me) when it picks ads to place. Don't let a few bad pages bring you down. 5. Time. Give it time before you judge your income. My trending spreadsheet has shown a consistent growth every day, every week, every month. Watch the overall trend over a great period of time. I tell people to give it 18 months AT LEAST. I'm a business owner and all my businesses needed over 24 months for me to figure out if it was worth sticking around. Adsense is no difference.
wow guys. There is a bunch of great information in here now! Thanks a lot for giving me advice on some key things. I'll be sure to wait it out, revise ad placements, and add more content.
