Abnormally Heavy Indexing?

    Hello,

Is anyone experiencing very heavy Googlebot activity lately?

All my sites currently are a hive of activity, one in particular has had Googlebot on it from 3:30PM until now at 4:30AM (13 hours) without leaving and is still going.

Normally deepcrawls like this happen a few weeks before a PR update. Considering we are supposed to be on the verge of a PR update any day now, this activity is either odd or we are still a couple of weeks away.

For reference, the data was obtained from a combination of cPanels latest visitors, AwStats, CNStats and a vBulletin bot plug-in.

Anyone else or is it just me?

Generally it occurs right before a big update.
We're getting an awful lot right now from it as well.

Thats right, Googlebot is working its backside off at my websites, although it has heavily put down the amount of indexed pages on some, but on others the amount of indexed pages has really shot up (Up to 150% in the case of some new websites)

I've been getting heavy crawling and indexing since one month ago. But haven't seen any PR change it.

Don't know why you bumped this, but while it's bumped it shows my prediction was spot on.

When i posted this people were saying the PR update was overdue and would happen any day.

A couple of weeks away puts me spot on when the update occured. It pays to be able to interpret the hints Google gives us, and not with just TBPR updates either. ;)
