Ability to turn of HTTPS?

    Hello Digital Point,

I would like to know if there is any way to turn off the HTTPS (SSL) feature here at Digital Point? I've found that with many sites that use SSL they perform at a considerably lower speed, and I am again presented with this same problem whilst using this site. Places like Facebook offer an option to turn off secure browsing.

Is this something that Digital Point offers, or is likely to offer at any point soon?

No sorry, there is not. If you are using a browser that supports SPDY, you are actually using that underneath it all rather than normal HTTPS (Chrome, Firefox or Opera).

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPDY

SPDY requires it to be secure and it's quite a bit faster than HTTP.

SSL security is in the interest of user as it protects you from the malicious attacks and offers finest security.

However, website speed depends on hosting service and on many other factors like hosting provider’s terms, browser cookies, and history data, temp files. Web server need to react faster for a website installed with SSL compare to non-ssl website. Therefore, it is better to remove unwanted stuff that will enhance website performance.

In my suggestion you should not compromise with security at the expense of website speed.

Did you read my above post? In our case turning off HTTPS would also make the site slower since it would also disable SPDY usage.
