    I used to submit URL of my site to social bookmarking sites, blogs, article directories.
    I also do forum profile link.

    When it comes to optimizing my site, each and every thing matters to me... from content to architecture to design to backlinks.
    Here are few things that I follow, for sure,
    - Quality of content
    - Internal linking structure
    - Anchor text
    - Image and video optimization
    - Header tag optimization
    Please point me out if I am missing something... :)

    Link structure - Use keyword in Link
    Anchor text - Short anchor text with atleast one keyword.
    Useful stuff
    Wordpress blog.
    Social bookmarking
    directory submission
    classified posting
