Ann Arbor, MI – February 5, 2009 – Linux hosting provider A2 Hosting has upgraded to PHP 5.2.8 on all of their servers. PHP is a widely used open source scripting language. It stands for "Hypertext Preprocessor". PHP provides web developers with the ability to create dynamically generated web pages. PHP holds a number of advantages over its non-open source scripting language counterpart ASP. Not only is PHP free, but it is faster, more secure and very flexible.

A2 Hosting's ability to stay on the cutting edge of the technologies that they support (including PHP Hosting) is a key aspect that sets them apart from competitors. All of their shared, reseller, VPS and dedicated hosting packages include PHP 5.2.8 support. Additionally, A2 Hosting supports a cutting edge version of MySQL 5. MySQL is the most popular open-source database software in the world. MySQL is the database often chosen by PHP developers to make dynamic, database driven websites.

The major improvement found in PHP Version 5.2.8 is the removal of a security bug from previous versions. A2 Hosting customers will also experience improvements found in PHP 5.2.7. These benefits include corrections for a series of crashes in various areas of code, fixed memory leaks inside the readline and sqlite extensions, and a number of additional security enhancements.

A2 Hosting CEO Bryan Muthig commented on A2 Hosting's upgrade to PHP 5.2.8 on all of their servers: “Being one of the first web hosts to support PHP 5, we pride ourselves on our ability to not only upgrade our web development tools in a timely manner, but to provide industry leading support for them as well."

    Hey, A2

This Forum is for the Sale of Webhosting , Not for service Announcements.

I wouldn't be saying that you are the first to "Support" Php Either because I try to upgrade Php for Example or any other updates to my Server's software on the day it comes out. I am also from Michigan ;)

We are using PHP 5.2.8 for long time now and i am sure we are not the only one, so i don't see what's the point of your post. PHP 5.2.8 is not something new and many hosts support it.

That's not really flaming, although this is probably not the place for a press release.

PHP 5.2.8 has been out for well over 6 months, I switched to it as soon as a stable release was out.
