bigrollerdave, It's difficult to tell a scam from the real thing these days. Most folk want to help out, but pull themselves up because they don't want to be the next schmuk on the block. It can't be too serious else he/she'd have fronted up with something solid to offer IMHO. ie http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=99339 I like your principles tho JL
I'm not worried about the money really I could care less if he pays me back or not. He is in a jam though and he needs the 25$ more then I do at this point in time. Some people get too caught up in their money and don't put themselfs in the other persons shoes. He is -25$ and he turns to us to help him out and everyone makes fun of him, but I can guarentee you if they were in a tight spot they would look to someone from help too. Maybe not for the 25$ but we all look for help in some way or another. I can only hope that someday these people realize that and will start to help others out. I guess I'm living in a fantasy world though.
There's a difference between helping someone out and giving a hand out. Once you've given enough hand-outs you'll begin to realize that they rarely do any lasting good as the person who solicited it often fails to learn from the experience, repeats their original mistake and finds themself once again in need. That's my experience with giving hand-out's anyway - I would have been more than happy to offer him some work but he didn't seem quite so interested in that. Give a man a fish or teach him to fish.
Yeah, I guess growing up on a military base and then later enlisting in the services teaches you something different. I've always stood up for the underdog and I've always helped those who need it. As long as I'm healthy nothing else in life really matters to me. I've been used my whole life by everyone because they know I will do anything for anyone, but looking back I wouldn't want it any other way. I the last of the dying breed. I'm a true American, and don't take that the wrong way.
I have no problem with helping someone out, but I'd rather give him some work to do that he could easily finish in a hour to earn the 25$. Everyone goes through tough times, but those who don't learn how to make it out of their problems themselves won't know what to do in the future. If he had looked for work and found none, or put an effort into earning the money he owes I would have no problem loaning him the money either. Thats just me though, if you want to give him the money I can respect that too.
I say we should all give rollerdave $25 for all the handouts he's given everyone else. If anyone deserves it, then it's rollerdave.
Anthony, I know this guy that might be able to help you out BRD, green repped you for the generosity.
Thats pretty sweet that your exactly $30,000 in debt AC. If you ask for $30 on 1000 forums you'll soon get it paid off (PS No dig was intended at the current situation)
