Why don't you take some donations and use the donations to do a real good press release. Just a thought. Some of the big PR companies will even write your press release for you. Hell, they might even do it for free if you tell them the situation. Whatever you do, just wait till atleast a week after the mid term elections are over. Otherwise your story will never get noticed.

How much does it cost to make a really good press release and who should I contact to do them for me? I have been working online for a few months as a low cost article writer ($3 an article,) and I have about a $1000 to get the word out and advertise.

Again, I really do not want to accept donations for nothing now. I prefer to offer something of some value back. I would ask for donations if this doesnt work and the situation gets worse.

I think http://www.prnewswire.com/ is the biggest one, but I'm not sure. Maybe someone can clarify this.

Anyway, they have packages where the PR company will write and prepare yoyr press release. Then release it. Then it goes out to all the news companies like CNN, ABC, FOX, Google News, Local News Companies, Yahoo News, and on and on and on.

I have done press releases before for some of my sites. I have tried it three times and it's worked once. The time it got picked up, I got 30,000 or so visits in two days plus a ton of backlinks.

You can also get it on the web 2.0 type sites like http://digg.com http://fark.com ETC ETC ETC

Again, I'm a noob at marketing, you should find someone on DP who really knows their stuff to help you out. I don't think I'm qualified. =\

I did not know that they can get it to such big companies, that would certainly be amazing and make the dream a reality. 30,000 visits is not bad at all for a start, I will have to check the prices to see If I can afford it.

I would definitely help such a cause. All I would ask for is a mention of my site on your site, maybe in the form of an advert or something. As Naples said, if you pitch your story the right way, you might be able to get PR comanies to do it for free.

Thank you very much for caring and showing an interest to help. The website will have links to the websites of all the webmasters who decide to help us. The main page will have 20 rotating images and profiles of the websites at the top, and under the explination of the purpose of the website, all the websites that help me will be listed. So there will be 20 featured websites, and and the other websites will be listed below. Also, you will not be paying directly to me, you will pay for a webhosting plan for one year which costs about $98. You will also get a coupon to get another webhosting plan, if you would like, almost for free. The way I will be generating money is by affiliate commissions. I this way think that people will get some value ''one or two webhosting plans & a profile of their website on my site,'' and still help me out.

Hi mate

The news agencies over here in the UK will love your story. Concentrate on getting that site up as soon as you can and I expect publicity will happen naturally very quickly.

Maybe you could look into offering other affiliate products as well as hosting - I'm thinking general items like CDs, DVDs, books, etc. Products like these would appeal to the general public if your story broke nationally. To them, they would be buying something they would have bought anyway for the same price, but they may as well do it through your site, and earn you some commission for your cause.

Kyle thank you for posting and for wishing me the best of luck. It would be absolutely amazing if it gets picked up by the news and I actually get people to make this dream a reality. I am really concentrating on finishing the site soon, but to be honest, I still think it is no more than a dream. If it really gets to be a success and people help me out, everything around me would change and the feeling would be one I never expected to feel anytime soon.

Thank you for the tips regarding the affiliate programs, I definitely think that what you are saying is true and I should use them. I will be researching about other affiliate programs. I would like to offer a broad range of products and services for those who decide to help me, but still not make them confused.
