Hi, I'm a new blogger and haven't posted many blogs to my site yet. To my surprise a (tourism-related) website asked me if they could place one of my blogs. I said only if they place also a link to my blog. I don't have many people following my blog yet so I thought it might give me some more readers. Is there anything else I should think of to do? Then, another company (related to blogging in tourism industry) wants to talk with me to place my blogs or write blogs for them. What is appropriate to ask for: a fee per blog or just a link to my blog in order to get more readers?
First of all don't worry about money for now. Give these other blogs really good quality content but with links back to your site. If they have a lot of readers you will suddenly get masses of free traffic and this will also establish you as a authority in your field. Make sure you have some posts on your blog which expand on the topics you were writing on for the content you give away. Say something like "If you want to find out more about traveling to Malta as a single person then come to my blog for more free information" Make sure you have a autoresponder setup so you can capture e-mail addresses so you can then use it for marketing purposes later on. How many visitors do these sites have? Do they have good quality content? If so then just give them the content but make sure they place your details and blog link at the end of the post. Lance
It's good that you have attracted attention to your blog so soon after starting it, well done. I agree with dgmlance keep providing them with top quality content and make sure that they keep the links back to your blog active, ie: not turning them into 'nofollow' links. Once you have established yourself as a reliable provider of quality posts you can then look to charging for your work as a guest blogger. Be careful though as some of the sites that you approach could end up asking you for money to have your work published on their site. Claire
