Hi there, Recently someone told me that in IE6 with a certain resolution one of the pages of my website doesn't work properly (shows a near empty page). Is there some kind of website/tool that can show me what my website looks like in different browsers and in different resolutions? Thanks for any help
Run your machine at as high a resolution as you can - then you can use the firefox web developer toolbar to set the size of the browser window - to test other browsers I just put the browser window over firefox, then shrink it down manually to the same size. There's a reason I run 1600x1200 on two of my displays. Another approach is to install another OS in VMWare,Parallels or M$ VPC - then you can resize the VM without mucking with your native install.
Well, the resizing firefox to the desired size, then resizing all the other browsers to match shouldn't be THAT time consuming since you should have at least one each of the four browser engines (gecko, trident, presto and khtml/webkit, aka FF, IE, Opera and Safari) already installed, and the web dev toobar in FF installed too. Remember, write one tiny section, check in all four browser engines, write another tiny section, check in all four browsers, lather, rinse, repeat. I suggest testing in at LEAST the following: Firefux 2.0, Opera 9, IE 6 & 7, and Safari 3 beta for Windows. You might also want to less frequently test in IE 5.5 (doesn't work there don't sweat it too much) and Nyetscape 8 (which uses an older fork of the gecko branch so that covers FF 1.x as well - a LOT of linux folks still don't trust any FF newer than 1.0.3)
