I am sure that most of you would have known the way on how to make a transaction without paying the fee. But i could see that many newbies are facing the same problem. Here is the solution.

While sending the money, You will have "TO" tab, "AMOUNT" tab. Below that in the same page, you will have "PURCHASE" & "PERSONAL" tab. By default, while sending the money, you will have "PURCHASE" tab selected. But change that to "PERSONAL" tab by clicking on the radio button. And then select "OTHER" in that.

Now no fee will be deducted. I would like to request all the buyers to follow this. Because even myself, i have lost much amount as a fee. So no more worries. But i just wanted to know whether it is legitimate? If there is found to be any problem in using this method, kindly post it here.

    Thanks.

Most of us know that very well but the problem is as we are providing or receiving any kind of service which is not classified as personal(gift) so maybe we have to face any problem in future if we use that option frequently IMO.

    DON.

You are supposed to classify the transaction as 'personal' only if it is between friends and family members. Any person found mis-using this function for commercial transaction is liable for punitive action like complete withdrawal of personal transaction facility..forever! :(
This is as per their rule book...
So you better watch out before you go all hog at it!

I would just recommend that dont try to cheat Paypal by marking payment for gift just to avoid some fee you may be in problem in future so just play safe.

I actually didn't know 'personal' transactions were fee free! That could be quite useful for me. Thanks.

It is free. Just less ethical to do when we're really sending and receiving the money as service/goods payment. paypal has set rules about this, but I think it's impossible for them to trace whether our transaction is personal or business. Do anyone know where the cut of 3.9% or 2.9% goes to? Is it a tax cut from our revenue for the country? Please tell me..

Generally when you are using a service, there is a fee for the service, just as when you provide a service to people. Pay Pal is not in business to provide a convenience to you for free.

To the OP...nobody likes fees, but it is a necessary business expense when you don't have your own money transfer and billing service.

Personally, I don't believe in cheating a reputable service out of their fee to save a few dollars. If it is that much of an issue, I would stop using the service, not try and beat them.

I am sure that if you provide a service for people and they cheated you out of payment, you would feel the same way.

If you don't like the fees, then use Money Bookers or something else...no since in committing fraud over a few bucks...because that's what it is. Pay Pal is a bank with the law on their side.against people who scam them.

Yes, I agree. Use the service and pay reasonable amount of fee. But it would be great if they reduce the fee, lol..

anyway, sometimes it hard to accept the fee sincerely, lol.. Particularly for small receipts like $5, which will leave you only $4.5, 10% of the money is lost for fees. But just stick to it. And when sometimes buyers send money as personal payment, just receive it and feel grateful, lol.

Good tip, but you may end up regretting such a move.. PayPal is smart enough to find out such a silly way ;)
