I got the message many times, and finally found out it was an advertisement. I have no choice and changed my MSN ID. MSN should take some measurements on this!
It's a virus that spreads through YM and MSN. As you can see from the email conversation pasted below, about one week ago, I've managed to reach the administrator of the DNS nsl-schools.org used and he removed the site from their systems. The site stopped working for a couple of days but now it simply redirects to another domain (mytermex), for which there is no contact information in the whois and even if it was, I have a feeling it is in some weird country that has no laws about this. If you spot new sites likes, I guess this is the best way to do some good, contact the DNS admin or hosting company and ask them politely to remove the sites/change the DNS information. It will somewhat slow down the infection and less people are infected. I wouldn't recommend you report the ads to Google, there is not much they can do about it. It's the same old flaw they have: not checking and not approving sites where their ads are shown. If you click on Ads by Google on that site, you will see that the ads aer from another domain. The person behind this could very well replace the Google Adsense code with a random one collected from the Internet/infected people's browser cache/random site from google's search results and so on. As I've said several times in the past, Google should add an option inside Google Adsense, something like Competitive Ad Filter, where we could add the domains where we will allow our Google Adsense Publisher ID to run. Any site using our code would not cause damage to our accounts and we can still use the Publisher Code on any sites we wish. I really don't see why it would be so hard to implement a feature like this. ps. ads on mytermex.com are from http://www.rfa.org (click on Advertise with us to see the site domain)
mariush yeah they need that bad but they prob will not as they would lose money from all the spam site, virues etc.
Few days back I got this in Yahoo IM from a trusted friend of me It hijacked my browser and i have to format my computer. It also sent several IMS to my yahoo contacts. This is one of the freakest spam I came across. Thanks for posting this to forum.
I can fully agree. For me, I like MSN more than Google Talk, but I like Gmail more than Hotmail. That's the only reason I use both.
I got this on one of my accounts and didnt even realise until one of my friends told me. I had to switch my email account. I learned my lesson, never again will I click a link without asking my friend what it is first!
I use Miranda (www.miranda-im.org), which supports several protocols at once and I have never received any of those tricky links or other garbage.
