A Warning to fitness product affiliates

Hi,

I've done some affiliate marketing for a well known clickbank fitness product and just received this email about a major smackdown by google for fitness ads.

Here's a extract:

To give you a quick history of how this developed... It all started back over the summer of 2008, when a handful of immoral scumbag marketers started running adwords ads to FAKE blogs set up to sell scammy products such as acai dietpills.

Fast forward a few months to December 2008, and these scumbags had overrun the entire adwords system with nothing but fake blog after fake blog hogging up almost every adword ad everywhere (all with deceiving fake stories and fake testimonials).

The problem had gotten so bad and google was receiving so many complaints about this HUGE SCAM, that google decided to take action and a massive banning started occuring during the 3rd week of December.

Unfortunately, since there are thousands of fitness sites and thousands of fitness/wtloss advertisers, Google has not had a good way of weeding out the legitimate sites that are actually helping people live healthier lives from the scammy sites and fake blogs (which are simply deceiving users into buying pills that don't work and getting them onto continuity billing without making that fact obvious.

Since Google hasn't had a good way of deciphering legit sites from scam sites, a lot of legitimate fitness sites have been erroneously banned from advertising for the time being (hopefully not permananently), and TAA has been lumped into the mix by mistake.

Unfortunately, even though I have tried to talk to google and assure them that my site is a REAL fitness program and has nothing to do with selling scammy dietpills, they are not giving any answers about this issue just yet and are not reversing any of the actions they've taken.

This just shows you that a HANDFUL OF IMMORAL MARKETERS have ruined the entire adwords system for a lot of legitimate fitness advertisers like us. They should be ashamed of themselves...but of course, they probably are not, because they are greedy immoral people.

It's pretty sad really. And google is not the only system these scumbags have ruined. There's another major ad network that has become so sensitive to approving any fitness related ads because of all of these acai scammers, that it is virtually impossible to get any ads approved for ANY fitness product (even legit ones).

So if you are running any fitness affiliate programs, you may want to check that your ads are still running smoothly.

If you build a good website with quality content and not something that looks generated in about 2 minutes, I see no problem why your ads gets banned by Google.

Well, that's not always true as my example illustrates. This was a good website with quality content and a proven product. Google indiscriminately banned good and bad fitness websites to solve the problem outlined above.

This website has now been unbanned by the way, after they managed to contact google about it and google agreed their website should not have been banned in the first place.
