Ya i pay all my internet busness through paypal
im going to have to rethink how i do business via the internet
as i have several hosting accounts all via paypal, didnt consider them under this as well.
Im going to start to move away from paypal and to my safe credit card who does care about me if i get ripped off
and ill look for thier TOS as well.

    found this
    Money Back Guarantee
    http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_warranty-about-outside

This program will only be offered for tangible goods transactions of less than $1,000.00 USD with pre-qualified sellers. PayPal may take additional criteria into account in deciding whether to offer the Money Back Guarantee on a particular transaction.

but who has time to read the TOS. its huge.

I've one: PayPal even with the few glitches it still the safest way to pay and to receive money.
With my bad adventure now I use a Credit card instead of bank account to pay an eBay purchase.

Fund your purchase through paypal with a credit card. Paypal hates that! Why? They know you got them by the balls cause you can do a charge back.

Anything I buy over 50 bucks from eBay I always do it this way. Paypal will not ignore you then because they know what you will do if they don't help you.

It may cost you your paypal account but screw them if it comes to that.

By the way I am about to launch a new website that you can post feedback about auctions/sellers on. It will be like a forum and there will be no limits as to the description and length of the auction review. The seller will be invited to reply and answer the charges if it is a negative review. The only limit is there will be no posting of slanderous remarks only facts about the deal.

Then you will just post the web address in feedback like this - see auction number at websiteaddress dot com for details -

What do you guys think of this idea?

Nice idea.... if you make the time limit to make a feedback 3 times what eBay gives, it will be perfect :)

There would not be a time limit. I can't think of any reason to have one on a site like this. Reason is ether party could come back later and apologize or fess up and claim they have learned their lesson etc.

Pleading the case that you have indeed reformed your ways after seeing the effect this review system would have could be a good thing, the sellers could come back and make things right much later after seeing that no one will ever do biz with them again.

I know its not a likely scenario but if people can see how it is possible to make up for what they have done and the review could reflect this it couldn't hurt. Having a means to further explain how things have worked out after the effect of the review is felt on down the line is one of the things I am after here. This would be a powerful incentive for sellers to make things right even after months later. On a personal note I just went through this myself, it took me 40 days to finally get everything that was supposed to be included in an auction I won for 2 large servers. The machines came in after 3 weeks and then all the parts that were supposed to be included just trickled in over the next month. I think the guy was selling stuff he didn't own and went out and bought the stuff to send me as he could find it.

Thing is there are a million stories just like this and the eBay feedback system just does not allow for a good explanation of what really happens some times because of the fear of negative feedback in retaliation.

I will be leaving my seller neutral feedback with a note to see my website for details. How many people are going to order a server from this guy once they see what the hell he pulled on me. He will have to come up with a plausible explanation and an apology and post it as a response or his cookies will be burnt from then on out.

This is exactly what is needed. The huge problem with eBay as it stands now is not many people will post negative feedback as they are afraid of a negative feedback in retaliation. This will eliminate that problem. leave neutral feedback on eBay but with a note to see auction number at my website for details.

When you see the actual website address I have for this you will see what I mean. It rocks.

I agree with this, I know many many people who actually gave the digital product, the buyer filed a complaint and the buyer won because the seller cannot prove delivery. As I was reading the first post I was thinking "he shouldnt have any trouble as the seller cannot prove delivery" but then to hear this, it seems about right that Paypal will side with whoever is more convenient.

I uses Paypal for my payment as primary but thought credit card. I never use Paypal money becuase I've $0.5 in my paypal account :)D I've used for $120 in this week, most of them are intangible products like software, services) I never faces any problem. I feel more secure when uses credit card via Paypal instead of uses as normally, :D strange

PP was very good for a long time for the person I have been working with.... until they had a massive sale which put a big spike in their pp account in a very short time. Long story short they shut them down with aboslutely no real explaination and held onto LOTS of money for months before it was finally released.

If you do a google search on paypal horror stories you will find things like justsaynotopaypal(dot)com and paypalsucks(dot)com. There are some very scary stories out there.

I guess it is just the risks we all have to deal with as IMers.

I've had no issues with them, and I've been on both sides of it. As a retailer if I can't supply them with a UPS tracking # or proof of receipt, they side with the buyer and we'd be out of luck on the item. If I can prove the buyer received the item, then we're all set.

Unfortunately E-books and other services (even web design, advertising, etc.) are not tangable and they have no way of proving whether or not someone received it.

The only thing paypal have going for it is that it is available almost for any product.

But the service sucks. And I dont like the fact that if you do get ripped off, getting your money back is like extracting teeth.

At least clickbank always side with the buyer. Sure some abuse it but majority will not.
