On the Google AdSense Help Center: What can I do to ensure that my account won't be disabled? page it say the following:

So I am curious: doesn't Google consider this (i.e. the same website on www. and without .www) a duplicated content, and therefore a violation of AdSense policies/terms (of course, if AdSense ads would be displayed on both)??! I mean that in the case when content exist on both locations, not that one would just redirect to the other one.

I think you are confusing 'duplicated content' with popups etc?

There is no problem with ads appearing on duplicated content, but there is a problem with them appearing in popup windows.

Oh I am very sorry, I had this particular link/text prepared for another thread about traffic exchanges. The right one is/should be page Google How do I tell you the preferred domain for my site?:

While also these two pages What's a preferred domain?, Why does my site have two different listings in Google: http://site.com and http://www.site.com? are somehow related.
