If “Content is King“, then links are what put that king on the throne. Build links and you’ll be able to display your content to the world. Don’t build links, and your King won’t have a kingdom. This is what I have learned from reading and performing many experiments. I would like know the insights of experts here although I guess most of them would agree.
Indeed, and make sure that those backlinks contain keyword(s) that can be found on the page(s) or post(s) that you're linking to otherwise you would be wasting your time.
I agree, but would like to revise your bolded phrase..."Relevant and Useful Content is King" and links pointing to relevant and useful content actually hang around.
By the phrase 'content is king' it's quite natural we are talking about high quality and relevant content. Copied articles are not even counted as content. So, the phrase sticks like that only.
Content is king is too simplified for most people understand. I have seen people 'generating' random content and post it. It's unique, though it doesn't make sense. What one should strive for is to write content that's useful for people and is so good that they automatically want to write about it. That's when it also becomes a link-bait ;-)
You are right on your side. It's true. Well! it's for people to understand by "content is king" that I mean high quality, unique, relevant, etc etc. You can just write high quality content, etc and wait for it to get backlinks. Backlinks are the one to put that content on the throne or to make it visible to the people.
I'd say content is king no matter what, one simple link from a top relevant site can make your content popular. Imagine this, I create a awesome link building techniques article, with techniques no one shares an aint widely known. I then come to dp post one thread, once 5 people have declared it's a great site to check out, so many will follow. Maybe you wont get the pr but your serp should be on top of things
Nice analogy there.... buddy. It clearly helps in understanding that one is useless without the other! What good is the King without a throne (power) and vice-versa! Backlinks surely give content the required exposure, enabling people to see it and appreciate! Regards, RightMan
It's good seo practice to do this, but you can still rank for keywords which are not found on the page.
Yeah it is definitely a case of needing to use both good quality and unique content as well as a backlink building campaign of some sort. Anchor text is also important so make sure you have good keywords to target too. Also getting links on authority sites is much more worthwhile but obviously more difficult. I find a few authority links can be worth the same as tens or hundreds of poor website links.
Agreed BUT if you don't know what people will be interested in or how to stimulate interest with titles you could be wasting your time writing content and linkbuilding... a bit of controversy goes a long way
Absolutely, a website about 'dog training' can in theory achieve a mediocre rank for 'cat food', given enough backlinks... ...But not only would that take A LOT longer to achieve, what would be the point when you can purchase a cat food related domain and get a much better end result on your efforts?
