Hi peeps Help a fella out here, please. I'm stuck. I have absolutely no experience what-so-ever on owning domains. I'm hearing FTPs here and DNS there and I'm thinking WHAT? XD I have two blog sites on the blogger platform and I'd like to point(?) them both to a new domain. Someone who has a blogspot platform suggested this site to me (http://internetbs.net/) He said its located in the baharmas but I'm not so sure, cos Norton says its hosted in the USA.:S They're on the ICANN list so thats good at least, but I'm looking for a domain provider who aren't subject to US or UK court orders. I've read quite a bit about this "whois" thing. Thats like personal infos that can be made available to anyone wanting to look in. Any shady character can find personal infos and use it to commit all sorts of crimes against you. Thats something I want to avoid happening. So I've come across this site here. http://www.active-domain.com/whois-proof.htm Can you REALLY change the whois infos?. And what about proxies; Do any of you use proxies so Google or whoever don't list your own IP address? Can that really happen if you were to purchase a domain? And why are members here selling domains? Is it really that tricky to just get your own via online forms? So many walls just to keep a site alive. See, just a total noob asking lots of questions. And a stupid one at that. Please help. Thank you for your patience.
Usually the Whois can be changed by just getting privacy from the registrar you buy the domain name from. As far as people selling domains- they're basically online real estate, right? So you buy it low, sell high and make money
Thanks! Now thats one less thing to worrie about. All there is now is the IP trace thing? You purchase a domain and what - will it be linked to your IP?
