A testament to how fast Google indexes pages: indexed my DP post in 8 minutes

Just a tidbit for those interested in how quickly a page can make it into the Google index:

I posted a new thread in the Microsoft forum on Live Maps indexing KML files at 3:38 EST today. It was in the Google index in 8 minutes:

Of course Google indexes DP more than most sites, but still impressive. Thats the fastest I've ever seen a page get indexed. WTG Google.

 

LOL, i've been tracking this today, indexed my thread in about 10. It's outta line how fast that is. By far the fastest I have ever seen.

Its completely absurd. I've had them pick up pages from my sites in under an hour, and was impressed by that.

 

That is mental! very fast and its all good.... wonder how long it will take to read this reply.....

 

that is great, just shows u how up to date search engines can be, suppose they need to be that fast to be able to provide the latest news !

I think it probably speaks to the relevance they GIVE the site. if it's something that Google see's as a more important site it will probably get spidered more quickly, less important... well you know.

It is really amazing to see something spidered THAT quickly though. I remember being impressed when posts on my site would be indexed in 2 days.

 

yea i noticed DP gets indexed pretty fast

 

Not just at DP. Sometimes, comments I make at PR4 blogs get indexed almost within a day.
google must be going on attack mode against yahoo

 

Your DP post has been indexed in that fast because of DP itself. DP has both domain age and link popularity as naturally so Googlebots come and dig in every 1-2 minute I think. Another site which has lower link popularity/domain age should take more time before its new page got indexed.

However, Google is still the fastest indexation compared to Yahoo. I had done on 301 redirect from old site to a new one and Google took only 3 hours to index all pages in my new site. That's very impressive.

@Sxperm: obviously DP gets indexed faster than most sites, which I mentioned in my post. Still an absurdly short period of time, regardless of the site.

 

Yup, I've noticed the same thing. Google bot is a working bee.

 

Yeah it's amazing.

On my blog I made a part 1 of a tutorial for software on my phone. About 5 or 10 minutes after making it I thought I should start the part two. I was then doing some searching for relevant resources and right at the top I saw the blog post I made a few minutes ago.
