A submissions rant

I am finding myself fuming mad at the submissions from India especially. Fuming mad and could bite a railroad spike in to at the jerkoffs who submit site after site and sub directory after sub directory. I used to look at the site and decide whether it was worth rewriting a short description.

I am putting the keyword stuffing %$#$#^**s on notice that the submission will be automatically deleted if it contains the word INDIA more than twice. Or any other keyword stuffing crap for that matter.

I don't mind correcting the English a bit but I HAVE AS OF NOW OFFICIALLY HAD IT with those idiots. If this keeps up I will start blocking IP addresses. Worked wonders in stopping featured submission viagra spammers.

As I said in another thread it is no wonder this business gets a bad rap

I feel much better and now off to see how many of the over 250 submissions from today end up in the 'bit bucket'.

Yeah I am facing a serious spam problem too currently :( They are submitting gibberish and sometimes even listings with reciprocal links...even though that feature is disabled. I really don't understand why.

You think thats bad? :) for some reason its free submitters, when i have allowed that, that will question you more over why they were not listed, strange, because virtually all paying customers who are declined dont question why and just move on.

You should go paid, its cuts down problems substantially.

Rather than ranting about spam you should probably get some decent mods installed to prevent spam from automated software. You might still get some hand-submitted submissions. The keyword stuffing detection might be a great help for many others.

I'm glad I have figured a way to combat and remove spam at 100% accuracy. Oh yea!

Put it this way, I am so certain of it, if someone did manage to get spam in there(which I know won't EVER happen) I'd give them a free listing.

I invite all spammers, from all nations to TRY and submit site

I think 99% of the crap I delete is from submission companies that do not even bother to
a: Look at the crap they are submitting
b: Advise their clients about what is a good description/title and what is crap and will get deleted
c: try to fix it for them
d: then they just don't even bother to read the rules/guidelines

If you have problems with them, you can use this tool, OR, you can use a redirect to Disneyland with this tool.
As a bonus, pm this guy. He can help you for sure with a good SPAM-Guard, as he is the daddy when it comes to programming :)

    lol man
Those 99% are not companies.... I think behind them are simple persons who are trying to make a buck. This is they they don't care/don't know what to do when outsourcing the link building to cheap freelancers...for 2-3$ :D
This is why you get spammy submissions, poor English, bad grammar etc.
Take a look at the reputed companies... do you see Apple doing free submissions ? =)) NO!

I'm not saying big companies like Apple, I'm saying submission / seo companies, and I know for a fact a lot of them are submission/seo companies as they submit their own listings ;) -- and quite poorly I might say! lol.

I do agree, that these people / companies (outsource companies etc) don't give a hoot if their clients' listings actually get approved, they care about submitting to 1000 directories in 24 hours.... ;)

Problem is cheap labour. Companies outsource to India and other places for like $2/hour and don't realise they are spamming the hell out of the place.

It gives some Indians a bad name. My friend Zenil is Indian and the way he works represents something you'd expect from the best country in the world. His work is top class and he sets a good example for other Indians.

As a compliment to Indians (UK Indians at least) seen as they get so much stick online, myself being from a city with a large asian community they are actually known for working extremely hard, very long hours, very family oriented and have a knack for literally starting from nothing to building up mini empires, especially in retail.

Its a shame that online it is a bit different, but there are definately plenty of professionally operating Indian individuals and groups.

Remember that spammers come from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, Belgium...... and they have probably picked up half of the bad habits from those countries.

After all CIA trained Al Qaeda didn't they? :)

Its just that some are standing out more than others.

Bet that does work very well. My issue is that it also cuts out lots of people with good and useful sites who can't justify the cost.

IP blocking seems to be working today. Submissions went from near 300 yesterday to 69 today and a brief look at the queue looks like most will. be good when I get to reviewing tonight.

I still have the CAPTCHA option. I don't like the things but they do work.

Part of the problem IMHO is also the number of people who are looking for automatic or bulk approval options and those that just sit there clicking the approve button without looking at what they are approving. As long as they are there the submission services will continue this crap.

Actually I am always 2-3 steps ahead of whats going on.
So with being said, I can still browse the spam in its own section if i wanted to. Otherwise it's pragmatically deleted.

Shame their neighbours don't bother sorting stuff out.

I found a good joke online that's quite representative of what many Asian communities are like in England -
