    Hi Guys...

I'm thinking of buying a sub-domain (soulmusic.projectvibe.net) of my main site (projectvibe.net) that will house a lot of the search engine friendly content. I'm wondering if having a variation of a keyword
(soulmusic ==> "soul music") will help my site ranking any.

    Is this a good idea?

Right now, i'm not even in the top 10 pages in the google results for 'soul music', but my site is very relevant to the keyword.

you have to buy a subdomain ? should be free

also, the subdomain will be treated as a separate site then the root to search engines.

Well yeah it is free... my bad.

So by having the keyword in the domain name, how much will that increase my search engine ranking?

It's hard to put a quantitative value on it, but I'd say it helps but it's not necessary to rank. More importantly it'll improve your click through rate. Imagine you are the searcher, you search for Soul Music (or something containing that phrase) - you can see the top 3 results.

Would you rather click on :

    soulmusic.projectvibe.net
    or
    whatever.projectvibe.net

    I know what I'd click.
