Let me know what you think about my classifieds site. I used geoclassifieds lite to build it and modified the script a little bit. www.freeukclassifieds.com Cheers.

    Remove the redirecting home page.
    Remove all the ads.
Get some more classifieds on there.
I've seen loads of people here offering to do logos, I suggest you invest in a good one.
You don't specify if it costs anything to post an ad. I don't want to register and then find out it costs 5 quid. If it's free, then plug that.

    Good luck.

Congrats functionality wise it is as good as any other classifieds web site found on the web, but just something I don't like is I have to go through that big landing page before going to the classifieds web site proper.

Ive tidied up the site slightly including a basic logo which also shows that it is a free ads site. The doorway page has meta tags on it that have helped to get the site 3rd in Google, so cant really remove it. What I have done is changed the redirect time from 2 to 0, so if you have a fast connection, you will not see the doorway page. Let me know if its any better now....

you can remove the redirect meta without changing other meta keywords or descriptions. I'm on 20mbps, but I see very quicky (flash) two completely different pages come up with content on both of them. Its pretty ugly.

It sure looks much nicer, but I think the top logo is a bit small you can want to fill up more of that 768 pixels on the top.

Im thinking of changing the banner links in the header to full size not half banners, should then push the logo to the left and fill the header up a bit more, your thoughts?

I was thinking that maybe your logo should move to the leftmost, and let the banner fill up the rest of the space, in this way, users do not need to scroll sideways to see the complete page and the top would be completely filled, a more "solid" kinda feeling, how do I describe....hope you can understand :)

The site feals a bit like the 90's. Could you clean it up a bit or add some fresh design to it ?

less banners, a bit more color and a good looking logo.

Lol, it had loads of colour before I edited it, since changing to basics, I have had many more signups. The original colour scheme was orange, a bit sickly! I understand about the banners, just trying to work it out, where I put them etc. Thank you for the advice.

I think it is as good as any other classifieds on the market, I am going to start posting in it. Please don't ban me :) . A good site isn't anything without promotion, I think you need to spend most of your efforts in that rather than tweaking the design which is really IMHO good enough.

Ok, all this help is fantastic. I am not great with colour combinations, but what would be the best bg colour to use in your opinion?

Invest $30 in an up to date design. Looks like a website from 1995.

Adsense unit on left is not well integrated. Try a horizontal keyword list below "Login, Browse, etc." with same colors.

    Change order :
Login Browse Register Lost Password Search
    to
Browse Search Register Login Lost Password
