I joined dp last month and learnt a lot..thanx to all dp members for their posts and replies...Also i could see a lot of people here owning dozens of sites and using adsense in it.. Here comes my question.. Is it advisable to own a single site and concentrate on it full-fledgedly to get more traffic and whatsoever like building content and so or get a couple of sites registered and put some content in it??? Does it mean if u have a single site u will be earning less or if u have dozens u can earn multi-fold than what u could have earned using a single site... What makes sense..Could some dp members reply...i especially thank jackburton2006, seo guru, seo lion, peterdavis and the list goes on .. i mean the active members for their posts and replies to the threads....from which i learnt a lot and still learning...
From my own experiences, I would advise that you stick to the one site until it's established. What I mean by "established" is that it has good ranking in the SERPs, good, constant traffic, and it is bringing in a steady stream of revenue and can go for weeks without being updated, and even then, needs only the occassional updating. Only if you have one site that can do this, do I recommend starting a second site. Here's the good part: once you've gotten that first one up and established, you should know all the tricks by now, and using that knowledge, should be able to get the second site up and doing just as well in half the time of the first, if not sooner. Then with the third and fourth site, it should be even faster and easier. What I'm saying is, you should know what you're doing (having done it with the first site) before you try to do it again. If that second site isn't successful at a faster rate than the first one, then you haven't learned nearly enough to be taking on the chore of a second site, and there is still much work to be done on the first. Many people get ahead of themselves, and live to regret it. You'll waste time and money that could be better spent on the first site.
Exactly what I was thinking!!!! This point I strongly agree with. I'm still having trouble keeping myself from taking on new projects! Lol Anyway one thing you could do if you build multiple site is to make them all related. So you could have sites on sailing lessons, boat racing, boat maintainence etc... Each site can concentrate on specific topics and once they are all established you can build an authority site, which is about sailing in general. The advantage of this technique is the sites can help each other out in terms on traffic and PR by cross linking. Anyway I would love to discuss in more detail but my breakfast is ready!
i like to get a site to around 300 visits a day, a decent supply of content, then try to start another site, but have no more than 3 until they start to run themselves mostly.
i don't think it matters whether its one site or many sites... what matters is traffic volume... so long as you can drive in traffic, you can either go for one site or multiple sites...
Her name is Zhang Ziyi. She's a Chinese actress who was recently in "Memoirs of a Geisha" -- she's the lead/star.
What the??!?! She looks so different in that picture!! Looks better than normal in fact! Anyway sorry for getting off topic...
Instead of making a lot of sites why not just add pages to your existing website? They dont have to be related. I think i might start doing just that. The positive thing about it is that you no longer have to sit in the sandbox with a new domain, How much do you pay for 100 domains per year? $500/$600? Here you only need one. etc etc
Yeah, if you build too many sites, it does get to be a hassle to keep track of them, promote them (heavens, I do it every so often, get a directory submitter to submit the same site again!), and keep up with them. Why I am slowly selling off a bunch of my sites. Get down to my basic 10 or so once again.
