I want to upgrade my hosting at godaddy. Being that its at the end of the month should I wait until the 1st of December to do this? Will they charge me for a whole month if its only a week?
    Thanks

I am not sure about Godaddy's policy about this, but most host will only charge a pro-rated fee for the upgrade.
It means, you will be charged according to the new price for only the remaining 5 days.

Wait you lost me....sorry. This is what they told me but I don't get them either.

"Thank you for contacting Online Support.

When upgrading an existing hosting plan, you will only need to pay a pro-rated amount for the remaining time on the hosting account, then any renewals after that time will renew at the upgraded hosting price. Upgrades also do not affect the current billing date.

You can upgrade or downgrade your hosting plan(s) from within your customer account."

They are saying that the remaining days are pro rated, meaning you only pay the difference between your current hosting and the upgraded hosting to the end of the month.

So if you pay $10 a month ( approx 30 cents a day) and there are 5 days left. The new plan is $15 a month (50 cents a day) then you will pay 5 x 20 cents( the difference from what you have already paid and what the upgraded hosting cost is.

Does that make sense? Or did I confuse you further?

Oops I am assuming you pay monthly but probably annually?

So if you paid annually then all you do it add up the difference in cost from what you paid, to what the upgrade is. It is easier to take the annual cost and divide it by 365 to get a daily rate. Then do the same for the upgrade rate.

The difference ( Upgrade hosting cost MINUS present hosting) cost is what you will have to pay per day that is left on your contract. They say your contract date will not change.

    The support email mean that,
If you upgrade your hosting to a higher plan for example $60/month from your current hosting $30/month.
Then the fee is count this way,
Day you have been using old hosting + Remaining day you using new hosting

Yes I pay by the year, up front as its cheaper.
So it just should not matter if I upgrade now or wait till the 1st of December?

you will be prorated. Charged for the days left up to your normal billing date. Then the next billing date will reflect the full upgrade charge
