I run several military related niche sites, and my largest one is
    www.military-quotes.com

I'm no webdesigner, and my imagination is a bit limited so all suggestions/comments on the design/lay-out are welcome.

I believe I've got the on-page SEO part pretty well covered (on the pages I've bothered to do it, still got some work to do on some of the sub pages), but again I'm no expert so all comments are welcome there as well.. :)

Also looking for some tips for a new logo to my forum, I've just got a temporary (and boring) one there right now...

PM, mail me or post here.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm not an expert either....but some color would be nice. When I design something I generally find a page I like and try to figure out why I like it. I think you need to break up the text a little more and try some different fonts?!?

1 million + visitors.....I measure my visitors in 1000's (how depressing).

I started a response to your post and then deleted for thought comments were too harsh but see my sentiments were reflected in preceeding post as well.

Three main colors is or different shades of same color is always good. I find color scheme and lack of graphics is worst feature. I love Visabone color picker to help in selecting colors to be used on a page. For me finding the right color scheme Is hardest part of the design process. The interactive color picker which they have online allows you to look try different colors together. As your page now stands it looks like a silent black and white film in a vibrant action packed world.

I also think you need a graphic in upper left hand corner. It seems to me that nearly all professionally done pages have a graphic or logo in upper left hand corner. This graphic is carried through on all pages and links back to home page.

I would also think about the heading. It is good for SERPs but looks like you are spamming the search engines.

I would say best of luck with the page but you obviously have been successful with it. Now onto making it more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Thanks a lot for your comments, I really appreciate the feedback. :)

You're right, the colors are a bit depressing, but hey, it's about the military and we do only know 4 colors. (black, grey, green and brown : Camo) :p
I guess I should try to lighten up the pages a bit, but I want to keep the military look and feeling too..
And will also try to design some kind of logo as well...

I know the heading really s*ck, and you're absolutely correct that it's for the SEs..
But that'll be the first thing I'll change now, It does look really awfull, and it wasn't as effective as I thought..
Trying to target the keywords "quotes" and "military" now, the SERPs jumps between 40-70 for them right now.

Rhino: I've tried to experiment a bit with different fonts for different content on the other pages, example: http://www.military-quotes.com/Napoleon.htm
The index page's a bit cluttered, but most of my visitors do enter the site on sub-pages anyway, so I've just tried to SEO it a bit. (maybe a bit too much...)

I'll try to do some work on it this weekend.
I've been quite successful at getting visitors there, 5000+ pr day (much more than I could ever dream of when I started), so now I'll try to make them stay as well..

    Thanks again
    Lars
