I just posted this up on my blog and thought some of you might find it useful. I just read about this technique and figured it was a little better than simply emailing webmasters and asking them if they would be interested in exchanging links with you. This techniques lets you skip on step and will probably increase your chances of getting the link parters you REALLY WANT.

I stopped exchanging links a few years ago.
It takes time and reciprocal linking is not as effective as it used to be.
In my opinion it would take less time to build one way links (buying, submitting everywhere, etc.) than emailing webmasters.

Buying links is against Google's rules and will amount to nothing if you get caught.

I don't think reciprocal linking is worth it anymore

I wasn't aware that Google did anything more that penalize your PR. Right?

I don't think anybody really know exactly what Google does besides the programmers who work for them. A lot of the SEO information you find on the internet and even in books is just speculation.

I would agree, but I traded links with a site, that started getting hits over a 3 day period, he got 34,000,000, which caused a problem with his ISP obviously. When I linked to him, I didn't get comparable numbers, but my hits increased by 100x at least, which is fine for one exchange and one email worth of effort in my opinion.

Reciprocal links are great for seo related. I've used them plenty of times to get my sites ranked.

Using link exchanges for "traffic exchange" isn't a bad idea.

Yah! I was just thinking that too...unless I'm missing something about links from high traffic sites.
