A question for the Indians on the forum

    Hi guys, this is possibly a very stupid question, but I was just wondering if most of the popular websites in India are in Hindi or English?

    I am an Indian ...webmaster for 3+ years.

    I have never visited any Hindi site and I can't recall name of any Hindi site.

    Really? That's what I thought - but I'm still a little confused as to why that is the case?

    I realize that at at least 100 million Indians speak English, but aren't there many hundreds of millions who speak Hindi?

    Thats true, but given the current stats - there are very few Hindi speakers (Or readers to be exact) who are actually attuned to using the internet, leave alone looking up a website.

    English. You have a point but as mentioned before, most of the people who access Internet can speak or read English.

    I'd like to add a verrrry small point here.

    See..I'm REALLY good at hindi (when it comes to reading/writing it on paper).

    ...but, the moment I come across a HUGE slab of text in Hindi..I give up reading, lol

    They're English and the simple reason is English is spoken across the country, while Hindi is restricted to North & a part of West India (with exceptions).
