okay, all you SEO guys here, tell me one thing, there are blogs forums, directories, press releases, etc these are the good ways of building back links. i have been studying this link building a lot off late. i have two questions. link exchange as per the documents available on net, says is not really helpful for anybody. A site to B & B to A. so why we are discussing it here? link from A to B is good if A has higher PR, and B has lower PR, so the advantage is to B. so why would A be interested in sharing links?
    2. i have seen as i was searching for some good freelancers in the major bidding sites, the kind of requirement i have. many such projects were posted there. there everybody specifically mentioned that they dont want links from blogs, forums, directories, link exchange etc. so then how to get the links? is link purchasing a good idea from higher PR sites, if yes, what is the standard cost of it? if anybody here knows any example of achieving this, would be really helpful.

iam asking this because, if i have a site wth good PR why would i be interested in sharing it with some one of lower PR, coz i am not going to achieve anything out of it.

Google is about to launch an honest search very soon, thn what you all SEO guys would do?

first question: I don't do link exchanges and always thought it was a bad idea. I've often heard that Google doesn't like it neither. Anyway, PR isn't that prevalent according to Matt Cutts.

Second question: There's other ways of getting backlinks from what you mentioned. Social Bookmarking sites, article submission sites, and best of all - writing great content. If you write great content - people will link to you.

    PR is a waste time
    One way links count more
One way links from related sites are the best

I know such project requirements as i'm a freelancer well people are noobs and copy descriptions without knowing what they really need whant ..

PR is used as an important role these days to value our advertising link price. So, in my opinion, PR still have some value in it.

There are almost thousands of way to get backlinks but some websites just prefer to get from websites. You can always request for advertisement quote from any related website. Google gives penalty on link exchange.

Yes, every little thing you do counts. It might be small, but Google and other search engines will pick it up.

PR doesn't guarantee results, lots of sites top of the serps without any PR. Link Authority is what you need
