Hi, I want to rank my website for a couple of competitive keywords. But I don't know how strong is the competition and how long will it take to get to the first page ... Here are some example keywords: - "Funny Pictures" (1500000 searches each month. 289,000,000 Results in Google) - "Funny Pictures With Captions" (9500000 searches each month. 45,600,000 Results in Google) - "Funny Pictures Without Captions" (1000 searches each month. 45,600,000 Results in Google) I know that no one can guess exactly how long. I am looking for estimates.
Your first mistake is not knowing your competition. How can you create an SEO plan without knowing this? The question is impossible to answer as there are too many variables to consider not to mention you don't even know about the competition. 1. Is your domain/site new? 2. How well is your On-page SEO? 3. Are you building Authoritative links or just links in general? 4. Competition How well these factors are will determine how long it would take.
Assuming that the website is new, the content is average, and the website has an okay on-page. the competition is strong.
You would have a much easier chance at targeting social traffic instead of organic. It can be just as valuable if done correctly.
With OK on-page, I would say it would be very hard. If I were you I would aim at an optimization score of at least 95 in Google Insights if you want to compete there. As for the estimation of time, I would say between ten months and a couple of years.
Most generic keywords are competitive but if you really want to know how competitive it is when it comes to ads then use google keyword tool.
Yes but how can I use the tool? I know it but it only shows volume and cost per click, it doesn't show the organic competition.
Have any of you ranked for a two words keyword? how long does it usually take you to rank for your most valuable keyword?
We've already given you the correct answer to this question(refer to post #2). You're looking for a magical answer that doesn't exist. But if it makes you feel better you will rank in exactly 7 months.
Google keyword tool is actually use for ads campaign, so if you are not in to ads campaign the purpose of using it is to get an idea of how much monthly searches it gets, regardless of its competition level and cpc.
