Hi guys, I reckon there's a difference between submitting http://yoursitename.com and http://www.yoursitename.com to the search engines? What is the difference and what is recommended? Both? Also, does it matter which link your link partner links to you? All along I've been using solely the http version, and only today I realized there might be a difference. I also notice my www version of the url has not been indexed, and although I know I have incoming links, many of them are not showing in my WP dashboard under "incoming links". Could the reason be in the urls? Thanks, I reckon this piece of information would help me alot Cheers, kanG
Truth is that submission of URL to search engines is not recommended now Recommendations are that you should get quality inbound links to your webpage. For indexing purposes couple of quality inbound links are enough but to stay competent in your niche you should analyze competition for your niche keywords and work accordingly.
You should pick one of www or non-www, and stick with it for all of your search engine and directory submissions. The other one should be setup with a permanent 301 redirect (e.g. with .htaccess file). Cryo.
As said before, search engine submissions are worthless atm. The best thing you can do about www and non-www is to setup a 301 redirect from either to another. You can try building links with quality content.
