Hello, If I check upon a site using the "site:" look up method, and I see the site being indexed by Google (having a PR), what are the chances that the site in question has any type of virus on it? (a virus that could harm an user's computer when going that site) Thanks.
Getting indexed is one thing and having a virus on the site is other thing. A site which is indexed may have virus on it.

Sites change every day. By "site:" who can really know a site has virus or not has virus today or tomorrow.
I heard Google will de-index a site which has a virus on it. That's why i thought finding the site indexed could mean that the site is clean. Anyway, how could I find out if a site has a virus on it or not?
I run the free AVG security system (you can download it for free - just look for AVG) on my computer and it will warn you if you are going to visit a site that might be compromised. Keep in mind though that sometimes it will overreact. For instance, certain types of banner ads powered by different networks can be mistakenly flagged as "potentially dangerous." But it does give you a hint anyway that something could be up with the site. Try that if you're concerned. Dan
