A question about the Facebook Activity Log and Device sign-in

Discussion in 'Facebook' started by fallingskies, Oct 14, 2018.

I went through my Facebook Activity Log and found a sign in from a device I didn't recognise - its operating system was MAC OS X. I usually use my iPhone 7 and occasionally an old iPhone 6, and both of these were on the log as having been used to sign in with. No problem with those, but my understanding of MAC OS X is that this is an OS for Mac laptops and desktops, and I own neither.

Worried, I researched a list of Mac OS and found Apple TV was also listed as MAC OS X - is it possible I used Apple TV to somehow log onto to my FB page? I have Apple TV and occasionally us the phone as a remote but I'm certain I did not do this, and is it even possible?

Thanks in advance because I'm worried someone has logged on from another computer basically so what I want to know is, what could be used to log into my FB account and show up on the Activity Log as MAC OS X?

Is there a chance you logged into another site on your tv and used your facebook credentials to access the site?

I'm not sure what you mean - logged into Netflix for example? How would that work - if I log into Netflix on Apple TV then I'd have to use my Netflix credentials to get into it. Sorry, not very tech :(

Yep, but if you log into spotify you might use facebook
and there will be any number of other apps on your apple tv that use a facebook login.

Right sorry I understand you know. I don't use Spotify on there - just Netflix. Does that use Facebook login? Thanks Sarah :)

So what clues does the activity log give you. It's ages since I checked.
Are there dates? Do the dates match up to anything in your diary?
Are there any odd looking posts?

The Activity Log gave me the precise operating system of the device which was used to access my Facebook page, and that as MAC OS X. It also gives times and dates - it was a few months back so I'll go back and have a look but I don't recall anything weird being posted. What I'm really trying to find out from an IT specialist is what sort of device would leave this OS stamp - is it just laptops and desktops or could it be Apple TV. I'm approaching it from this way because it's *possible* I got in via my Apple TV (but I don't know how) but it's *impossible* I did this on a Mac because I don't own one and that could mean someone hacking my FB.

A quick google search suggests it would be

Mozilla/5.0 (Apple TV; CPU iPhone OS 9_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/601.1.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/13T534YI
    Code (markup):
