A question about SERPS based on searcher's location

  1. #1
I have a website that its targeted towards a 3-word keyword phrase. It is currently #1 in SERPS (internationally) for that phrase, and is doing quite well.

I've noticed it has climbed the ranks to #2 for another keyword phrase. This keyword phrase is very lucrative if I can get to #1 spot, but when I search on google with an American proxy, it is nowhere to be found. When I use a Search Engine Ranking tool, again, it is not in the top 100. However, when I search normally from my computer, using Google.com (I'm in the UK), the website shows as #2 in SERPS. I am getting (low) traffic from this keyword phrase, and I think if I can get it up the SERPS in American Google search results, it will get a huge increase in traffic.

Now my question. My site isn't even in the top 100 for U.S search results, but is number 2 for U.K search results (on Google.com, not Google.co.uk). If I try some marketting techniques, do you think it would be possible to get to the top of U.S Google? It is a competitive keyword phrase (1,000,000 searches a month according to Google Keyword tools)

I'd love to hear your opinions.

    Thanks
