I don't know much about hardware, so I have a question. What exactly do I need to connect 2 computers to 1 dsl connection. I know I need the router, what else would I need? Cables, cards, stuff like that?
you will need a cable from the router to the back of each PC...the cables from the router will probally be "terminated" on the wall where you will put your computers and also next to the router. At the computer end - you will need a "patch-cord" to plug into the wall on one end and the computer on the other... At the router end you will also need a patch cord for each computer... Basically buy 4 patch cords...(2) 3ft and (2) 9ft
You will also need 2 10/100 mb NIC cards. Get decent ones. Don't buy crossover ethernet cables unless you are going to link the two machines out of one port on the router. Simple: -coaxial cable to modem -ethernet cable from modem to router -1 ethernet cable from each port in the router to each machine's NIC card or port.
