A question about rating

I wanted to rate someone but I got the: "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to xxx again" screen.

I searched quickly the FAQs but didn't find anything.
So, how many rep do I have to spread around before I can re-rep someone?

you cannot give rep to the same person twice in a row.

you can rep xxx user, but then you must rep yyy user before you can rep xxx user again.

 

Yea I get that everytime I try to leave a bad rep on the user "DigitalPoint"

Give few greens to someone else and then rep mister x again

I spread several but I don't know how much....
May between 2 green to the same person I need to spread 100 reds to others...

 

I've never give anyone a red yet, but I never had that problem, so I think reds are not really needed here.. Just give a green to someone who deserves it..

 

I think that's the point. I find it better not knowing the number. If you knew how many reps would be enough to "spread some reputation", you would be [quickly and without much thought] spreading it around full-time just to ocassionally rep someone you really want to rep. Reputation would lose its meaning.
