Hi guys! I'm from a non-verifiable PayPal country, the Philippines. The lack of capability of receiving payments through PayPal has been such a hurdle for my career as a freelance writer. Just recently, however, my uncle in the US has granted me permission to use his name, address and bank account details to register a US PayPal account. Thing is, he doesn't know a jot about computers and using the Internet. He told me to register the account myself and use the account to transfer money to my name here in the Philippines through xoom. The question is, will using this method be all right? Mind you, I will NOT be using fraudulent details. The name, address and bank account details will all be LEGAL and true, just that the IP for the PayPal account will be traced to the Philippines. Does this count as a deceitful method? Somehow I don't think so. I mean, what if an American moves to the Philippines and accesses his PayPal account here? Wouldn't that be the same as what I would do? Still, I would like to hear your opinions on the matter. Thanks! ~Sepia
my guess is that it's ok to access your (uncle) paypal account from philipines, but I'm sure Paypal will limit your account sooner or later and will ask for documentation and other stuff...
Well, if your Uncle can proof that he was in the Philippines when you access the account then it should be alright. Otherwise, it can be risky. Paypal is very strict about their policies and you are not allowed to share Paypal accounts with anyone else but yourself. If anything, your uncle may have to proof that those transactions are legit and they may need him to send invoices and all that. It may not be a wise thing to do. Find another means in which your customer can pay you.
well i have a friend of that same situation like you have... the thing is (im not sure though...) she opens her uncle's paypal account here in the Philippines (with an IP from the Philippines of course..) to look if the payments of her clients from the US is already there... as far as i know, she haven't encountered any problems (YET). she told me that she only uses one PC to access her uncle's account so that it will just detect one IP address..
I am also from a country where PayPal can't receive money, only send. And I use a PayPal account owned by a close friend in Canada, under his name and his bank account. So far, more than 1 year, nothing bad happen, although I always check the PP account from my country. Thank God Is it because I sell on eBay? Maybe PayPal won't mind if we receive money from eBay, it's their parent company...
^Maybe PayPal is biased because you do transactions in Ebay. hehe. Anyways, i'm trying to persuade my uncle to open the account himself. Then I'll just be doing periodical checking, like twice a month, here in the Philippines. I'm even in the middle of creating a step-by-step PayPal tutorial for him. Maybe if he learns, I won't have to open the account at all and he could just be the one to send me the money through xoom. BUT...and that is a humongous BUT... I really doubt that he WOULD learn. When my mom was talking to him on the phone last time, my mom mentioned that I was saving up for a new laptop. My uncle's a really nice person and he spoils me alot, so he quickly went to the mall to buy me a laptop. But guess what: He doesn't even know what a laptop is!!! HAHA XD He asked around what laptops are but when he got to a store which sells computers, he was overwhelmed with all the models that he ended up sending the money to me. ^^;;;
Solution for you! To avoid limitation: 1. Use US proxy to access your uncle's account everytime. 2. Add cc, bank completely. Also fax some documents after sometimes when they ask for it. TO withdraw money: 1. Ask you uncle to withdraw it to his bank account then ask him to send to your bank in the Philippines via Bank Wire Transfer. 2. USe Xoom to withdraw your money. 3. Exchange it to MB or E-gold.
PayPal never close an account, if it's registered on valid details. PP can just limit your account and ask for details to send them (passport copy and utility bill). You can use this account - the only thing you need to worry is to have a passport scan and utility bill, if they will ask them. Thanks, Tim
hmm...if PayPal asks for my uncle's passport, I'm dead. They would see he didn't come to the Philippines. Anyways, I think best solution is for him to learn it *_* How do you explain Paypal to a computer-illiterate? X_x;
Your account would most likely get suspended for all of that should they find out. The mere fact that you're working against PayPal's TOS shows you're being deceitful, so why bother trying to make it look as if you're not in breach?
