A Question About My New Webmaster Forum

    Hello,

I recently created a new Webmaster Forum. I've installed an SEO plugin and done other various things, but here's my question:

Recently, both the title and the anchor text (in forums, signatures, etc.) said "Webmaster and Developer Forum." After about a week I was ranked on the first page for this phrase, but I realized that it isn't a very popular search.

So I changed it. Both the title and the anchor text now say "Webmaster Forum" (which I wasn't even ranked for before), and I'm waiting on Google to see if it's working. Any suggestions from you fine folks?

P.S. The site launched December 1st.

    Thanks,
    Peter

Good move changing, yes its more competative but it wont be too hard to achieve and the traffic benefits will be great. If you want to have a serious forum you need to rank for some serious terms.

Peter, remember that your site is new, so the results you see in the major search engines at first won't be terribly accurate. Just make sure that the threads can be read by visitors (including search engines) without having to log in or register (but disable replies/starting new threads for guests and other non-members of course), work on developing your site's content (given that you run a forum, ensuring consistent user activity should help), and then promote the heck out of it. Heck, you've already gotten one new member just because of this thread (me).
